US Cycling team Team Type 1 has signed Rubens Bertogliati for the 2011 season.

Team Type 1 is dedicated to not only winning bike races, but also raising awareness of Type 1 Diabetes in the process.

We strive to install hope and inspiration for people around the world affected by diabetes.  With appropriate diet, exercise, treatment and technology, we believe anyone with diabetes can achieve their dreams.

Bertogliati has been a professional since 2000, when he rode for Lampre.  Since then he has achieved 1 Tour de France stage victory that saw him in the yellow jersey for two days (2002) and also had a second place stage finish in this year’s Giro.  He also has two career Swiss national time trial championships.
