It lets me wear my mountain bike shoes for the commute and other types of shoes when I forget the clip shoes or circumstances are such that I don’t have them. Other than coming up with the platform side when I try to clip in sometimes it’s work out pretty well.

This is funny. I’ve been riding clipless for 4 years and recently went back to platform pedals. I got tired of wearing those reverse high heeled shoes. I haven’t seen where I’m any slower. Maybe the hole argument is a ruse to get us to buy expensive lollipop pedals and cleat systems. For me, I’m through with cleats.
